Athletes are coming to Pottsville!
Athletes are set to hit the small coastal town of Pottsville next month for the fifth Tweed Coast Enduro. The triathlon consists of a 1.9 kilometre swim, a 90-kilometre cycle, and a 21.1 kilometre run, this event can be completed solo or as a team.
The Tweed Coast Enduro is designed to fulfill any athlete’s wishlist. The Enduro gives a personal approach and celebrates athlete accomplishment for many who are competing in the long course for the first time.
This event was first created in 2015 as a community sporting event that provided local triathletes a pathway past the Olympic distance. Each year Pottsville is flooded with keen triathlon participants. This year it is expected to have 550 participants in the running as well as over 1000 spectators. After the grueling triathlon, each Enduroist is greeted with post-race snacks, an enduroists finishers medal, and a well-deserved post-race massage.
The Tweed Coast Enduro raises funds for the Cabarita Surf Life Saving Club and Pottsville Beach Neighbourhood Centre and a number of other community groups, some of which are the Tweed Raiders JRL, Pottsville Cricket Club, Murwillumbah Venturer Scouts, and Pottsville Men’s Shed. The goal this year is to raise $7,000 for these local groups.
